Ujjwal Gauraha (born 9 August 1985) is an Indian actor, who works in Hindi films and Hindi television. He is also known for his roles in Indian web series. He is known for his role in ZEE5's thriller film Silence... Can You Hear It? (2021) and Vighnaharta Ganesh (2017), an Indian television series based on Hindu scriptures. He has also appeared in well known titles like MX Player's romance mystery Roohaniyat (2022),[1] Indori Ishq (2021), The Great Indian Murder (TV series) (2022), which was released on Disney+ Hotstar, and many more.
Gauraha made his television debut with Epic TV's Adrishya. His first film debut was with Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns, in the role of a news reporter.
Early Life edit
Ujjwal Gauraha was born on 9 August 1985 in Korba, Chhattisgarh, India. He did his schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Korba and college from Chouksey Engineering College and MIT School of Business.
Career edit
Gauraha started his career with Grasim Mr. India, in which he won the title of Most Stylish Model in 2012, followed by a TV mini series Gladrags Megamodel & Manhunt. He participated in the reality show in 2013.[2][3] In 2014, he appeared in Epic TV's non-fiction series Adrishya based on some of the greatest spies in Indian history. He played the role of Qasim Khan, a Mughal spy.[4] Later that year, Gauraha appeared in another folktale television show Sinhasan Battisi, playing the role of Lobh Devta.[5] He also featured in the movie Singham Returns as a news reporter. This marked as his debut in the Indian Film Industry.
In 2015, Gauraha featured in the satirical drama film Shamitabh alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan. He played the role of a superstar in the film.[6] The audience descibed it as a promising film.[7] Following the release of the film, Gauraha appeared in multiple television series. In March 2015, he entered Essel Vision Productions' Maharakshak: Devi, playing the role of Jalandhar Asur.[8] The show aired on Zee TV. He also played the role of Visheshan in Suryaputra Karn (Swastik Productions Pvt. Ltd)[9] in addition to potraying Hanuman in Devlok with Devdutt Pattanaik (Epic TV) in October.[10]
On 22 August 2017, Vighnaharta Ganesh, an ancient Hindu TV series aired on Sony Entertainment Television. Gauraha appeared as Baba Bhaironath in the Hindu Mythology based show.[11] In 2018, Gauraha starred as Karan Kapoor in the Thriller film Ishq Tera.[12] In 2019, he played Surya Putr Karn in a historical TV Series Surajya Sanhita.[13]
In 2020, Gauraha returned to the Indian Film Industry with a comedy film, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, potraying DJ Chetas under the production of Zee Studios.[14] The following year, he appeared as Saneshwar "Sunny" in another Zee Studios Thriller Film Silence... Can You Hear It?[15] which also starred Manoj Bajpayee, Prachi Desai and Arjun Mathur. He appeared in the romantic drama web series Indori Ishq playing the role of a weapon supplier.[16] Gauraha's final appearance in 2021 was in Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na.
In the beginning on 2022, Gauraha played a celebrity reporter in a crime television series The Great Indian Murder for Disney+ Hotstar. The series based on the novel Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup received good ratings by the viewers. Later in June, Gauraha potrayed Praveen in Cyber Vaar, a crime thriller web series streaming on Voot.[17] The same year, he appeared in another romance thriller web series Roohaniyat, streaming on MX Player, as John, a photographer.[18] The Web series emerged as one of the highest rated Indian series.
