Tyrone Iras Marhguy (born November 24, 2003) is one of triplets and a Ghanaian. He is well-known for his precedent historic stance against discrimination in Ghana, which he won.[1][2] He is a former student of Achimota School in Ghana.[3]
Early life and education
editTyrone received his basic education at Manna International School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. He continued through five other basic schools while his family was on a road tour, staying on a bus for three years. He obtained his secondary education at the Achimota School in Achimota, Greater Accra in 2023. He currently pursues a bachelor's degree in Science at the University of Pennsylvania.[4]
Awards and Recognitions
editOn March 20, 2021, Tyrone was honored as the overall best student for topping his final Basic Education Certificate Examinations, obtaining aggregate 6 to study General Science at the prestigious Achimota School. At Achimota School, he graduated with all "A"s in his final examinations.[5][6]
On May 31, 2021, Tyrone won a case against the Board of Governors, Achimota School, for Achimota School refusing to admit him on account that he cuts his locks.[7][8] This denial of enrollment sparked national and global headlines about the need to address the hair policy in Ghana.[9][10]
