The Turks of Karnataka. The Turks are native to northern, western and Central Asia and they are also found in very small minuscule numbers far from their homeland in Northern Karnataka and southern Maharashtra. This community migrated southwards towards India from their place of origin in present-day North western China, they migrated around 800-900 years back and now they have lost their native language and culture and have completely assimilated into either Dravidian or indo-aryan culture. They are closely related to the Uyghurs. They are adherents of the Hindu faith and are mostly Vaishiate, they are primarily involved in agriculture, fishing and local administration. Their faces bear resemblance to their northern ancestors as both of them share light skin, straight brown-black hair and mongolid eyes. They are primarily found in the districts of Kalaburagi and Yadgiri in Karnataka. They have contributed many words from their language to modern-day Kannada.
