• Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO) but presently it is not clear that it does. As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’. Additionally, the draft tends to read too much like a CV, which Wikipedia is not. Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link). Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. You may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 02:25, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Troy Anthony Clardy (born 1975) is an American sports play-by-play announcer who is currently the "Voice of the Stanford Cardinal" and its Stanford football and men's basketball teams.[1] Clardy also calls National Football League play-by-play on Compass Media Networks,[2] college football play-by-play on Westwood One,[3] and various Olympic sports on Pac-12 Network.[4] He is the only Black play-by-play announcer serving as the radio voice of an FBS school.

Broadcasting career edit

After graduating from Stanford University with a B.A. in Urban Studies, Clardy worked for eight years at KTCT radio in San Francisco as a producer. He also hosted radio pregame, postgame, and coaches shows for Stanford football & men's basketball. In 2005, he moved to the ESPN Radio Network, where he worked as a producer on GameNight, The NFL on ESPN Radio, and The Huddle on ESPN Radio. He moved to Pittsburgh in 2010 to help launch 93.7 The Fan as its Executive Producer while also hosting a weekly show. In 2014, he returned to the Bay Area to work as the primary radio pregame & postgame host for the Oakland Athletics.

Play-by-Play edit

Clardy's first play-by-play experience came during his time as a Stanford student working at campus radio station KZSU. While an undergraduate, he called Stanford appearances at the Liberty Bowl, Sun Bowl, and College World Series.[5] Clardy was KZSU's co-sports director with current San Francisco Giants broadcaster Dave Flemming,[6] and also worked with fellow students & future Major League Baseball announcers Dave Raymond (Texas Rangers) and Kris Atteberry (Minnesota Twins).

While working in Pittsburgh, he was the radio play-by-play voice of the Arena Football League's Pittsburgh Power in its inaugural season,[7] and called several Pitt Panthers men's basketball, baseball, and softball games.

In 2015, Clardy began calling baseball, softball, and soccer on Pac-12 Network. He has gone on to call ten different sports, which gives him the record for the most different sports called by a single announcer on the Pac-12 Network. Clardy has also worked with ESPN, calling Little League Softball World Series, Junior League Softball World Series, and Intermediate League World Series events since 2018. He was the radio sideline reporter for the Stanford Football radio network at the 2016 Rose Bowl.

Hired by Compass Media Networks in 2022 to call college football and NFL games, Clardy made his national radio play-by-play debut for the October 30 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.[8] He called four NFL games and two college football games for Compass that season. In 2023, he also began announcing college football national radio on Westwood One, calling the Black College Hall of Fame Classic on September 3 in Canton, Ohio,[3][9] and the October 14 game between the Miami Hurricanes and the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.[3]

Clardy was announced as the voice of the Stanford Cardinal on August 28, 2023, making his debut for Cardinal football's season opener against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in Honolulu on September 1.[1] He also continues to work with Compass Media Networks, Westwood One, and the Pac-12 Network.

Personal life edit

Born at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, Clardy graduated from Midwest City High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He currently lives with his wife in the San Francisco Bay Area.[2]
