Draft:Toms River Intermediate East

  • Comment: The only thing that even vaguely asserts notability for this subject is the bit about the history teacher. This is not enough to meet WP:NSCHOOL per WP:1E. Generally lower schools are very seldom notable, so this isn't surprising. The content about the history teacher is encyclopedic, so adding it to the school district article would be entirely appropriate (but you should probably refer to him as "a teacher" rather than by name, per WP:FAMOUS). Every other bit in the article is run of the mill information that can be found for any school, hence not contributing to notability. 4.37.252.50 (talk) 20:17, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

History

edit

Toms River Intermediate East was founded in c.1951[3] on 1519 Hooper Ave, Toms River, Ocean County, New Jersey under Toms River Regional Schools, making it the oldest of the middle schools and the oldest of the elementary schools as well. In 2020 there was an apparent incident with an 8th grade social studies teacher, Lawrence Cuneo. Allegedly he made his students pick up cotton while he pretended to whip them. He also apparently, as part of a Black History Lesson, made his students lay on the ground and kicked their feet. The teacher defended himself saying he was trying to show how horrible slavery was and that he didn't mean to make anyone feel uncomfortable or upset.[4]

Athletics

edit

There are many sports that the Rockets participate in. These sports include baseball, track, cross-country, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball and wrestling.[5]

Administration

The School Administration includes principal Bryan A. Madigan, two assistant principals, William Baxter and James Cleveland, Administrative Assistant Adriene Lazzaro and TREA Administrative Assistant Jessica Hilsdorf.[6]
