Tim Arnold Norell (Swedish Tim Arnold Norell; October 25, 1955, Älvsjö, Stockholm - December 16, 2023, Stockholm[1]) is a Swedish composer and musician, the author of the songs of the Swedish music band Secret Service.

Biography edit

Tim Norell's musical career began when he formed the Swedish band Secret Service with Ola Håkansson and Ulf Wahlberg in 1979. Tim Norell wrote music for the band's songs, including big hits such as "Oh Susie", "Ten O'clock Postman" and "Flash In The Night". Tim was not photographed, did not perform on stage (until 2006), preferring to work in the studio.

Tim Norell was one of the members of the author trio Norell Oson Bard, where he wrote all the music and Ola Håkansson and Alexander Bard wrote the lyrics to his tunes.[2]

Musical career: 1980-2020 edit

In 1986 Tim Norell wrote and produced two hit songs with Agnetha Fältskog and Ula Håkansson ("The Way You Are" and "Fly Like The Eagle") for the Swedish Olympic Committee's bid for the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Tim Norell participated several times in the Swedish Melody Festival, and in 1989 he took first place with Tommy Nilsson ("A Day"). They also reached 4th place with Lili & Susie's "Okay, Okay" in 1989. Previously in 1987, Tim Norell took fifth place with Lena Philipsson - "Dancing In Neon", and in 1996 Andreas Lundstedt took second place with "Driver Dagg Faller Regn".

Since the 2000s, Tim Norell has been actively writing new songs,[3] working on a musical[4] and performing with the concert lineup of his band, Secret Service.

In 2012, an album of rare and unreleased songs by Secret Service, "The Lost Box" was released, and in 2022, "Secret Mission" consisting entirely of new songs written by Tim Norell.

On December 16, 2023, after a year of fighting cancer, Tim Norell died in Stockholm.
