Draft:Tiina Sotkasiira

Tiina Sotkasiira, born in 1973,[1] is a Finnish writer, activist and assistant professor at the University of Eastern Finland.[2]

Her research interests include international migration, integration and settlement of migrants in rural areas, racism, social security and Russian studies.[3]

Academic career edit

Sotkasiira holds a PhD and a Master's degree in social science with a focus on social and public policy from the University of Eastern Finland and an MSc (Public Order Research and Information Management) from the University of Leicester.[2]

During her career, Sotkasiira has published regularly in her research areas and contributed to several research projects and networks. In 2017, she spent six months as a researcher at the Center for Russian, Central and East European Studies at the University of Glasgow. She has also worked in Russia and is a board member of the Nordic Migration Research Network.[2]

Activism edit

Sotkasiira is involved in various activist networks. Among other things, she is chairman of Joensuu's local anti-racist working group.[2]
