The Palm Tower - is located in the center of the Palm Jumeirah artificial island and, as of 2023, is the tallest building on the island. With a height of 231.5 m (760 ft) and 52 floors, the skyscraper is ranked eighty-six on the list of Dubai's tallest buildings.
Development edit
Nakheel and leading builder Trojan Construction Group[1] used 700 tonnes of structural steel, 17,000 tonnes of reinforcement steel, 46,000 square meters of glass, and 77,600 cubic meters of concrete. Up to 4,000 workers and three tower cranes were utilized on the construction site.[2]
Overview edit
On the 52nd floor of the building at 240 m (790 ft) above ground, is the observation deck "The View at The Palm", which offers a panoramic view of Palm Jumeirah Island, Dubai, and the Persian Gulf. The elevator reaches the 52nd floor in 45 seconds. The observation deck was designed by the architectural firm Gensler.[3] When viewed from the side, the building looks like a palm tree silhouette, like the island on which it is built.
At a height of 210 m (690 ft), The Palm Tower houses the world's tallest 360° infinity pool, the Aura Skypool. It is the world's tallest pool that wraps around the perimeter of the building, rather than just being a tank on one side or in the middle of the building. It is also one of the highest pools in the world, sharing second place with the W Hong Kong Wet Pool in Hong Kong 210 m (690 ft). The area of the Aura Skypool is 750 square meters, and the reservoir holds 930,000 liters of water.[4][5] Especially for visitors to the pool, an elevator takes them directly to the 50th floor of the building where the pool is located. There are three pools in the building.
There are also various hotels and restaurants in the building. The St. Regis Hotel occupies the first 18 floors of the building and has 432 apartments. Part of the Marriott Bonvoy family, their hotel in the Palm Tower has become one of over 50 hotels worldwide.
The Palm Tower can be reached by cab or by the Palm Jumeirah Monorail, which connects Dubai with Palm Jumeirah Island (Nakheel Mall stop). Adjacent to the building is a big shopping mall Nakheel Mall.
