The Governor's School @ Innovation Park (GS@IP) is a magnet school in Virginia and one of 19 Virginia Governor's Schools[6]. It is a partial-day academic year school program with a focus on the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)[3][7].
The program is affiliated with George Mason University and situated on its Science and Technology campus[2][3][8].
Attendance at the program is open to students in 3 local jurisdictions based on academic achievement and essays[3][7].
Admissions
editThe program is part of the Prince William County Schools system of Prince William County, Virginia[1]. Students from Prince William County and from the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park are eligible for admission[2].
Curriculum
editStudents that are selected to enter the program each select a "strand" (biology, chemistry, engineering, or physics) they want to specialize in during their two-year study [3][9]. Students then return to their base high schools in the afternoon to take language arts, history, and elective classes in addition to extracurricular activities[9][5]
