The Cosmic Shambles Network (sometimes just referred to as Shambles) is a network that produces live events and online content heavily focused on science entertainment. It was created in 2017[1], by comedian Robin Ince and Trent Burton of Trunkman Productions (who own the network).

They are perhaps best known as producers of Nine Lessons and Carols for Curious People, the Book Shambles podcast and co-producers of Robin Ince and Brian Cox's Christmas Compendium of Reason.

Background edit

The Cosmic Shambles Network was borne out of The Incomplete Map of the Cosmic Genome app and Utter Shambles[2] (2010-2016). The aim was to take all the various arms of curiosity fuelled content created by Robin, Josie Long and their pals and roll it into one central hub of online and live entertainment. Trent Burton, a producer who had worked with Robin on multiple projects over the years, structured the network and remains its lead producer today.

During the 2020 pandemic the network ran a Stay at Home festival which featured daily, often twice daily, livestream shows presented by Robin Ince and Josie Long and featured many guests from the Shambles universe. The festival featured a daily talk show, a weekly science Q&A show, a weekly science show for children and a weekly comedy club amongst other events. The festival won a Chortle Legends of Lockdown award[12] and raised tens of thousands of pounds for art centres and artists struggling during the lockdowns. At the end of 2020 it culminated in a 24 hour long livestream, Nine Lessons and Carols for Socially Distanced People[13] which featured over 150 guests from all 7 continents.
