History edit

Techmer was founded in 1981 by John Manuck. The company develops and manufactures engineered compounds. It also makes color and additive concentrates for plastics and fibers, focusing on modifying the appearance and properties of base polymers. The products made by the company have applications in the agriculture, automotive, aerospace, building and construction, consumer, medical, packaging, and textile industries.[4][5] Techmer also develops and supplies an NIR-sortable black plastics colorant and a purging agent for blow molding machines.[6]

In 2020, Techmer signed a strategic partnership with SK Capital, a New York-based private investment firm.[7] In September 2022, the company was acquired by San Francisco-based private equity firm, Gryphon Investors.[8]

In April 2022, Techmer introduced ISO 10993 and USP Class VI-compliant pigments and additives for medical devices and healthcare applications.[9] In February 2023, the company developed and introduced a product called HiTerra rPET Revive, that could stabilize viscosity and enhance the quality of recycled polyethylene terephthalate.[10][11]

Certifications edit

Techmer received a Zero Waste to Landfill certification from total quality assurance firm, Intertek in May 2023.[12] The company also received a silver medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment.[13]

Management edit

Mike McHenry is the CEO of the company.[14] As of May 2023, Travis Martin is the company’s Vice President of Operations[15] and Jon Rogers is the VP of Sales and Marketing.[16]
