Syeds of Taraf edit
Taraf (Bengali: তরফ/তরপ, romanized: Torof/Torop) family was the first Muslim royal family of Greater Sylhet in Bengal.[1] In 1304 Syed Nasiruddin (Conquest of Sylhet) captured Gour Kingdom and renamed to kingdom of Taraf. Syed Nasiruddin settled in Taraf and started a family known as Taraf Family of Narpati. Syed Mahyuddin Hasan (Great-grandson of Syed Nasiruddin) was married to Latifa Banu (niece of Moulvi Nawab Ali Amjad Khan) and decided to move in Prithimpassa and start a settlement. It was called Tarafi Shaheb Bari.
