The Foundation Diet and Health Switzerland is a Swiss non-profit in the fields of Education and Healthcare.[1] Other noted areas of focus are Health and Advice and Support, such as Addiction Counseling.[2] Established in 2014 and headquartered in Meggen-Lucerne, Switzerland, the non-profit was founded by Ernst Erb, an advocate for plant-based nutrition for 45 years.[3] The foundation’s stated mission and purpose is the “development and publication of information on the subject of health with a focus on healthy nutrition.”[4]
The foundation operates through its online platform, diet-health.info,[5] where it provides information about nutritional facts, citing scientific sources. Central to its work are comprehensive ingredient descriptions and content related to vegan diets.
History and Activities
editOfficially registered in the commercial register of the Canton of Lucerne in April 2014 as the non-profit "Stiftung G+E, Gesundheit und Ernährung," the foundation underwent a name change to "Stiftung Gesundheit und Ernährung Schweiz" in January 2018.[4] The non-profit, identified under CH-100.7.97955-3, and UID CHE-407.149.898, operates under state supervisory authority and holds tax-exempt status through Central Switzerland BVG and Foundation Supervision (ZBSA).[5][6]
Additionally, the non-profit extends its reach through the project Rohkost.ch, a Swiss platform “committed to providing neutral and independent knowledge on the subject of healthy nutrition and raw food.” The main language of communication is German with its sister project, diet-health.info, also offering translations in other languages.[7]
Funding
editThe foundation is supported through funding only.[1] Ernst Erb, on LinkedIn, self-reports himself as responsible for financing the non-profit. The official website and LinkedIn of the non-profit further states that it is “independent of industry/state and does not sell anything or advertise” with the goal to provide “well-researched and neutral information.”[8]
Services
editAs part of its efforts to provide the public with accessible nutritional information, diet-health.info offers cost-free memberships that tailor advice to individuals to fit their personal health needs, including newsletters that highlight new information and topics of interest.[9]
