Early life and Education:

Svana Gisla is born in Iceland and moved to London in 1997 to work at the reputable music video production company Oil Factory. She took over Ridley Scott's newly formed music video division Black Dog Films in late 1998.

Career highlights: Svana is an Emmy and Grammy nominated Producer due to her contributions to the music and entertainment industry.

Svana produced for many music video directors such as Jonas Akerlund for over ten years for artists such as Madonna, Rolling Stones, Coldplay and Rammstein.

Svana produced Springsteen and I 2013 biographical documentary about the life and career of Bruce Springsteen through the eyes and insights of his fans around the world. Directed by Baillie Walsh. The film is executive produced by Ridley Scott, and was made from contributions from the fans that were uploaded in raw quality over a period of two weeks. These submissions were then edited together with archive footage of Springsteen, some of which had never been seen before. The film was released on July 22nd 2013 simultaneously via a worldwide cinema broadcast in over 50 countries and in over 2000 movie theatres.

Svana was commissioned by Beyonce and Jay-Z to produce their On The Run concert film for HBO in 2014, winning nominations for Grammy and Emmy awards. Filmed at the final two shows in Paris, France. The 155 minute broadcast featured 42 songs filmed with 32 cameras over two nights. The final film had to be edited, graded, digitally worked and audio mixed in just five days before the broadcast on September 20th 2014. This extremely intense post production process was done out of Paris and included 12 editors and four post production houses, and required an entire data lab to manage file transfers and delivery.

Svana worked with David Bowie before his passing, producing his final visual output Blackstar and Lazarus in 2015. Directed by Johan Renck,the films were David’s last creative output before he passed away in January 2016 and were described by journalists as a “parting gift” and “goodbye notes”. The films were shot in NYC and Romania, and went on to win multiple industry awards such as a Cannes lion

She was approached by ABBA in 2017 to develop and create their digital project ABBA Voyage that continues to sell out in London two years after opening on the 27th May 2022. https://abbavoyage.com
