Draft:Survepalli Reservoir

Survepalli Reservoir's FRL (full reservoir level) is 12 feet. 17th early in morning when I got here the reservoir water level was 14.5 feet and only one lashker was posted instead of six. 4 years ago a contractor had left some portion of revetment incomplete, that portion was about to breach. If this had happened two mandals would've been inundated and some villages totally washed-out. Loss of life would have been unimaginable.[1]

The construction of dam and appurtenant works were commenced in the year 1976 and completed during the year 1989.

Sarvepalli is a village in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, India and famous for being the ancestral village of former Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.[citation needed]

History

edit

The Survepalli Reservoir was constructed as part of the broader efforts in the 20th century to enhance irrigation and water supply in the Nellore district. It plays a crucial role in supporting agriculture in the region, particularly for crops like rice and groundnut.[citation needed]

The reservoir was built to utilize the local river systems, helping to manage water resources effectively. Over the years, it has also contributed to the local ecosystem and fishing activities.
