Sultan Al-Maliki, (born September 16, 1990) is a chief editor of Ajel, an electronic newspaper newspaper in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Maliki started his career at Sabq Electronic Newspaper company in 2007-2010 where he was a trainee.[1] and he later became a content manager in the digital new sector from 2010-2013. Al-Malki later joined Khalejia Tv, under Rotana Media Services. In 2013 he resigned from Khalejia Tv and joined Ajel Newspaper, where he worked from 2013-present, where he works as the editor-in-chief of Ajel Neswpaper.

Early Life

Sultan bin Salman Al-Maliki, was born in Riyadh. At the age of 15, Al-Maliki started learning technical matters such as web design under supervision by his teacher, founder, and then the editor-in-chief of the Ajel newspaper where he gained his passion for digital content and media.

Journalism Career

Al-Maliki met Muhammad Al-Shehri [2] where he pursuaded him to learn journalism in addition to technical talent at King Saud University - the preparatory year - but after studying for a whole year, he transferred to the media department and specialized in journalism.

In 2013, he submitted his resignation and went to work in the electronic newspaper Ajel, in which he is currently working as editor-in-chief, in addition to working as a director of the Ejaz Electronic Publishing Company, which owns the newspaper and some famous news accounts in social networks, and during these periods he worked as a consultant for several parties.

Salim holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from King Saud University, in addition to nearly fifteen years in the field of technology and media [3]

Achievements

Al-Malki contributed to expanding "Ajel" to achieve Arab-wide recognition and managed its social media accounts, which have become some of the largest news accounts in Saudi Arabia. He also played a key role in launching the English version of "Ajel" newspaper. Al-Malki has participated in several television interviews. On April 16, 2019, he was featured on the well-known MBC channel, where he discussed the motivations behind launching the English version of the Saudi newspaper "Ajel" He explained that the aim was to expand the reach to non-Arabic-speaking audiences both within Saudi Arabia and abroad, providing accurate facts and information about the Kingdom from the inside.[4]

Notable Interviews

Al-Malki conducted the first-ever interview for a Saudi newspaper with Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Egyptian Orthodox Church. During this interview, Pope Tawadros praised the modern changes in Saudi Arabia, describing them as "progressive." He also highlighted the importance of Saudi-Egyptian cooperation in facing regional challenges, including foreign interference and terrorism, which threaten national unity and people's right to live.[5]

Additionally, on April 2, 2011, Al-Malki appeared on Bahrain's national television, where he criticized the Bahraini newspaper "Al-Wasat" for plagiarizing Saudi news stories and misrepresenting them as related to events in Bahrain, with the intent of stirring public opinion during the 2011 protests in the Kingdom of Bahrain.[6]

On June 20, 2022, Sultan Al-Malki spoke to the prominent Egyptian newspaper Youm7 during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Cairo. Al-Malki praised the strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, emphasizing their longstanding political and economic cooperation. He noted that 2021 saw the highest trade exchange between the two countries and highlighted the visit's focus on regional challenges, including preparations for President Joe Biden's upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia and the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.[7]

On March 5, 2018, Sultan Al-Malki spoke to Dot Masr, emphasizing the significance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Egypt as his first official foreign tour since becoming Crown Prince. Al-Malki highlighted the deep ties between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, noting their joint efforts to address regional challenges such as combating terrorism and supporting Yemen's legitimate government. He also underscored the cultural and political importance of the Crown Prince's meetings with Egyptian religious leaders and his attendance at cultural events, reflecting Saudi Arabia's commitment to openness and cultural exchange.[8]
