Steven Kids

Steven Kids is a British-Belgian singer-songwriter with rock, pop, and folk elements. His music, characterised by sincere lyrics, memorable melodies, and a distinctive vocal style, is gaining traction in the UK and internationally.

Early Life

Steven Kids was born in Mons, Belgium, and holds dual British-Belgian nationality. He demonstrated a natural aptitude for the piano from an early age and further developed his skills through self-instruction. He also received a year of formal guitar lessons before continuing to improve his guitar playing independently. After a successful period working in digital art in Belgium, Kids encountered a major setback when his business was destroyed, resulting in the loss of his home and livelihood. He subsequently returned to the UK and experienced homelessness, eventually residing in a caravan at Whitsand Bay, Cornwall. This period of hardship and the surrounding coastal environment significantly influenced his musical development.

Musical Career

Steven Kids' music is reflective of his personal experiences and insights, addressing themes such as love, loss, self-discovery, and the human condition. His compositions are introspective and thought-provoking while remaining accessible to a broad audience.

In November 2023, while still living in the caravan at Whitsand Bay, Kids released his debut single, "BlackHole". The single received positive attention on streaming platforms and critical acclaim, marking the start of his musical resurgence.[1] He followed this with the release of "I Hate You" in December 2023, further establishing his growing popularity.[1]

Kids is currently working on his debut album, "Whitsand Bea" (intentionally misspelled to reflect a personal connection to the location that inspired much of his music). The album's lead single, "Council View," was released on 1 April 2024 and was chosen as a playful acknowledgment of his unexpected success. The single entered the UK Official Singles Chart at number 94, signifying a notable milestone in his career and heightening anticipation for the album.[2]

On 1 July 2024, Kids released his latest single, "We Need Peace," which showcases his continued artistic development and lyrical sophistication.[1]
