- Comment: The sources utilized strike me as likely unbalanced. Voz Media has a strictly anti-Cuban government stance that strikes me as possibly not meeting the standards for reliability on the subject. Voice of America is an American government-run news organization and can be reliable, but the linked article appears to be an editorial. The subject is almost certainly notable, so find additional reliable sources. Perhaps look into Spanish-language options? Pbritti (talk) 14:17, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
The Special National Brigade (Spanish: BRIGADA ESPECIAL NACIONAL DEL MINISTERIO DEL INTERIOR, BEN), also referred to as the Black Berets (Spanish: Boinas Negras) or SNB, is a special forces brigade run by the Cuban Ministry of the Interior (MININT). [1] It performs missions that deal with riot control, hostage rescue, and counterterrorism. [2] [3] The SNB was deployed in response to prodemocracy protests that began on July 11, 2021. [4] [5] [6] The United States government sanctioned them because of human rights concerns related to mass arrests and physical violence used against the protesters. [7] [8] [9] The Black Berets have trained with China's People’s Armed Police (PAP), who trained them in hand-to-hand combat, hostage rescue, tactical shooting, and handling large riots.
