[1]Soulaan or the Soulaanî people are African Americans the (descendants of Chattel slavery and freedmen in the United States ) The word soul is a major part of black american culture for example, Soul food, Soul music, soul brother/sister ect. The two A's in soulaan stand for Afro-American SOUL- (AA) N (Nation)This name was a fairly new and collective decision by the Black-American community, to create boundaries affirming their ethnicity, heritage & culture.[2]
