Social Golf Australia (SGA) is an Australian golf business and Social Club
The business was recognised by Golf Australia.[1] as Australia's largest golf club, by membership, for 2022-2023[2] [3], and was the first online social group to be certified by Golf Australia[4] to sell official Golf Handicaps as part of the Golf Access program[5].
SGA offers official golf handicaps (18,000 GolfLink Numbers issued since 2007[6]), hosts events in the Australian States of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland[7]. The business hosts many fundraisers and charity days to help support Australians in need, notably Foodbank[8], Lifeline Gippsland and Movember[9],
The business was founded by husband-and-wife team Matthew and Sally Pitt in 2004[10] as Bushranger Golf before formally launching as SGA in 2009[11]. The business acquired the Australian Social Golf Club Championships (ASGCC)[12] in 2008. In 2009 Matt & Sally founded Social Golf Australia (SGA) to host the ASGCC and develop a national network of events around Australia. The ASGCC became The SGA Championships, the flagship event of their annual events calendar.
Following the passing of Sally Pitt in 2018, the business is now solely owned by Matthew Pitt, an Australian Golf Industry veteran with credits including AusGolf[13], Inside Golf Magazine[14] [15], Hacker Golf[16], Golf Victoria Magazine[17], [18] and The Woke Blokes Podcast[19]
