Draft:Skolornas matematiktävling

Skolornas matematiktävling [The Schools' Mathematics Competition ] (SMT) is a yearly competition in mathematics for swedish high school students

The competition has been organized by the Swedish Mathematical Society since 1961 and usually attracts around 1000 participants. The score in the competition form the basis for selection of the Swedish team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), Nordic Mathematics Contest and Baltic Way.

The competition consists of two separate parts: a team competition and an individual competition. Schools with at least three registered participants are automatically entered into the team competition and the top three from each school form the school team.

The qualifying round is open to all high school students and takes place at the end of September. The top twenty to twenty-five winners of the qualifying round move on to the final round, which is held at the end of November. In both rounds, six problems must be solved in five hours. The 55th contest was held in 2015.

The qualifying competition is written at their respective schools. The final competition is organized at one of Sweden's main universities.
