The subject could possibly be notable per WP:NMUSICOTHER#1 if he's frequently covered in publications devoted to Jazz, but the current sourcing doesn't (yet) support that interpretation I'd say. I am dissatisfied with the sourcing in general because it's fairly weak and there should be Swiss sources that discuss the subject in greater detail. Thus, I'd decline this draft (as of 20 October). Simon Petermann (born 1982 in Bern) is a Swiss jazz musician (trombone, electronics), composer, producer, soundpainter[1] and radio host. He is the leader of the band MoonMot, the co-leader of the Fischermanns Orchestra and Inside the Baxter Building jazz ensemble and creator of the Swiss jazz industry event Swiss Jazz Days in Bern. His musical career is focused on the study of modern forms of improvisation and research in electronic sound processing.[2][3] Petermann is also known for his interdisciplinary works.[4]

Simon Petermann was born in 1982 in Bern, Switzerland. After graduating from school, Simon Petermann went to the Swiss Jazz School. Afterwards, he studied jazz trombone and music at the University of the Arts Bern, at the Lucerne School of Music with Nils Wogram and at The Academy of Music and Drama with Anders Jormin in Gothenburg, Sweden. Simon Petermann also took courses with Slide Hampton, Michael Brecker and Wycliffe Gordon.[5]

Since 2007, Petermann has been touring with the eleven-member Fischermanns Orchestra.[5] The band performs in the streets, stages and festivals of Europe, Russia, Egypt, the UAE and South America.[6][7] The band's style combines composition with various forms of improvisation and electronic experimentation.[8] It was also with the Fischermanns Orchestra, where Petermann collaborated with Swiss jazz musician and one of the pioneers of electronic music, Bruno Spoerri, who participated in the creation of the band's album Live in Switzerland and in the tour to support it.[9][10]
In 2012, he began hosting the weekly jazz show Jazz am Sunntig on Radio RaBe.[11]
Simon Petermann began teaching at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern in 2013 and has been teaching at the University of the Arts in Bern since 2015.[12]
Starting in 2015, together with the group Inside the Baxter Building, Petermann has been creating a series of interdisciplinary installations called Serendipity - Three Experimental Sessions. The event includes visual and sound installations, as well as the screening of films about the creation of artworks.[4][13][14][15]
In 2017, the musical collective MoonMot was formed, which includes Simon Petermann, keyboardist Oli Kuster from the band Zuri West and musicians from Amy Winehouse's original band Amy Lives. That same year MoonMot performed at the EFG Jazz Festival in London.[16][17] In 2019, MoonMot performed at the BeJazz Transnational Showcase festival.[3]
For 15 years, Petermann has been touring with various bands, organizing concerts and producing music albums. As a member of MoonMot, Fischermanns Orchestra, Inside the Baxter Building and Traktorkestar he has toured the UK, Russia, Finland, Egypt, Colombia, Bolivia, Romania and other countries.[18] In February 2022, Petermann was one of the initiators of the music industry conference Swiss Jazz Days in Bern, Switzerland. The event brings together representatives of the Swiss jazz scene and provides them with a forum for exchange and discussion on topics related to the Swiss jazz scene but also addresses pressing social issues within the jazz community. Petermann conceived the project in 2020 and, in his own words, aimed to unite all jazz musicians in Switzerland by holding annual meetings. In 2023, one of the central themes of the event was "Decolonization and anti-racism on the Swiss jazz scene".[19][20]
In November 2022, Petermann held the audio-visual installation WAKING the GIANTS together with the Egyptian artist Aya Tarek. The exhibition was devoted to the problem of global climate change.[21]
