Simon Edward Minter (born 7 September 1992), known professionally as Miniminter is an English YouTuber, streamer and Internet personality. He is a member and co-founder of the Sidemen, a British YouTube group. He is also a co-owner of XIX Vodka, Sidemen Clothing, and restaurant chain Sides.

Minter's YouTube career started in 2012, primarily focusing on FIFA gaming videos. Over time, he diversified his content, incorporating vlogs, challenges, and collaborations with other YouTubers.

Early life

edit

Minter was raised in Hertfordshire, being born on September 7, 1992 to British parents. He attended Berkhamsted School, where he became friends with future YouTubers such as KSI (Olajide "JJ" Olatunji) and Zerkaa (Josh Bradley),[2] acting first as the cameraman for Olatunji's channel before beginning his own content creation. When he first met Olatunji they hated each other at first.[3][4] After completing his secondary education, Minter went on to pursue a degree in Economics at the University of Hull. While studying, he also continued online content creation.

Career

2008-2013: Emergence

edit

Minter's YouTube channel was created in the February of 2008, however he did not post on it until December 2012, inspired by KSI, uploading this first video whilst at university - discovering that university was not for him and instead leaving his studies to focus on a career in YouTube.[5] His channel saw wide success, reaching the milestones of 100,000 and 1,000,000 subscribers within a year. His content revolved around FIFA videos, playing football, as well as challenges and vlogs.

2013-present: Sidemen

edit

In the September of 2013, Minter created a second channel - MM7Games. A month later, a Rockstar Games Social Club with himself, KSI, and other British YouTubers was created on October 19, 2013 in Grand Theft Auto Online, known at the time as Ultimate Sidemen (which would eventually be shortened to Sidemen). By 2014, the group consisted of seven members being himself, KSI, Vikkstar123, W2S, Zerkaa, TBJZL, and Behzinga, and they had begun collaborating more often.

In 2016, Minter and members of the Sidemen created the Upload YouTube influencer event, hosting their viewers with other content creators. The second and last of these events took place in September 2017.[6]

Other projects

edit

In August 2017, Olatunji announced he was leaving the Sidemen, citing internal conflicts as his reasoning (although is still a member of the Sidemen in 2024). This sparked diss tracks to be released against one another from members of the Sidemen - with Minter joining and mentioning Olatunji's little brother, Deji, in song KSI's Little Brother. In 2020, he and Randolph, a friend as well as British rapper and YouTuber, collaborated to release two songs, being Survive the Night and The Helium Song.

In 2018, he launched the What's Good Podcast with Randolph. It was created on November 1, 2018 and has since amassed over 1,000,000 million subscribers.

In 2024, Minter played for England in Soccer Aid.[7]

M7 Education

edit

Minter runs a charity, M7 Education, aiming to help educational equality - providing experiences for both pupils and teachers in schools, aspirational trips.[8][9] It was founded by him in December 2018 with his brother. The charity has been supported at some of the Sidemen charity matches.[10]

Personal life

edit

Minter has two brothers, Johnny and Nick, with Nick having appeared several times in videos of Minter's. Minter is married to British singer Talia Mar. The pair had been dating since 2017,[11] and moved in together in February 2023.[12] They announced their engagement via Instagram and got married on 3 June 2023.[13]

Minter loves to play football, having focused many videos and playing on the Sidemen Charity Match and Soccer Aid.[14]
