editShriram Pistons and Rings Ltd (SPR) initially known as Shama Pistons and Rings Ltd., was incorporated in the year 1963. However, in 1972, the management of the Company was taken over by Dr. Charat Ram a leading industrialist and the Company was re-named as Shriram Pistons & Rings Ltd.[8] [9]
Shriram Piston and Rings Ltd (SPR ) was re-incorporated in 1972 with a sales turnover of Rs. 3 million. Over the years, the company forged technical collaborations with KS KolBenschmidt GmbH, Germany in 1978, Riken Corporation, Japan in 1978, Honda Foundry Co. Ltd., Japan in 1989 and FUJI OOZX INC. JAPAN, in 1993[10] [11][12]
Shriram Piston & Rings Ltd (SPR) production increased by 2 million rings per month in December 2000 and 1 million engine valves per month in September 2005. The company received the TPM Excellence Award in 2004 and the TPM Special Award in 2007 from JIPM. [11] [12]
