editSaroj Kanta Barik is a professor at the North-Eastern Hill University, a central university under the Government of India, affiliated with the Department of Botany. He is also the former Director of the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Director of the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research and one of the eight Theme Directors for the CSIR Agriculture, Nutrition and Biotechnology theme.
He has implemented more than 40 R&D national and international projects as Principal Investigator, including 12 mega-projects as National Chief Technical adviser/Team Leader/National and International Coordinator. He has served/is serving as Chairman/Expert Member of more than 110 scientific committees of Govt. of India and State Governments. He has also worked in scientific institutions/universities in Mexico, China, Pakistan, Japan, Ecuador, Australia, Singapore, Nepal, Bangladesh, Germany, France and Switzerland.
