Career
editAfter completing his secondary education at the Stiftisches Gymnasium Düren he studied sociology, psychology, linguistics as well as medicine at the RWTH Aachen University from 1974-1984 .
In 1983, he founded Medizintechnik Rudolf Weyergans GmbH for the distribution of medical technology and cosmetic devices and preparations. The first product was a device for mechanical lymphatic drainage as a treatment method for lymphedema and for the prevention of leg ailments.[1]
In 1990, Weyergans founded High Care Cosmetics GmbH alongside Medizintechnik Rudolf Weyergans GmbH.
In 1999, Weyergans merged Medizintechnik Rudolf Weyergans GmbH and High Care Cosmetics GmbH into Weyergans High Care AG, holding the managing director position. Research and patents
editIn 1980, Weyergans published his thesis on 'Effects of Body Image on the Construction of One's Own Reality' at the Institute of sociology at RWTH Aachen University. It discussed the effects of self-image on self-esteem and interpersonal relationships.[2]
Until 1985, Weyergans researched the origins of cellulite and published further studies under the title 'Cellulite, a Disease That Is Not Yet One,' evaluating cellulite as a local lymphatic circulation disorder. [3] Weyergans' basic idea of a 'Differentiated Cellulite Treatment' [4] was patented in 1996.
In 1987, Weyergans, together with lymphologists Gerhard Jörgensen and Georg Deri, founded the Association for Medical Cosmetics e.V.
In 1989, Weyergans published the health guide 'Active Against Cellulite' with Humboldt Verlag.[5]
In 1997, Weyergans together with the German Aerospace Center[6] began comprehensive research on the Intermittent vacuum therapy (IVT) for the lower part of the body (Lower Body Negative Pressure Device / LBNPD). Shortly thereafter, his medical 'device with alternating pressure and vacuum for the reduction of cellulite' was patented.[7]
Rudolf Weyergans holds numerous patents in the fields of cosmetics and medical technology, mostly aimed at improving physical appearance.[8] He is a recognized expert on connective tissue and physiology as well as on the prevalence of venous and lymphatic pathologies. As a member of the International Society of Lymphology[9] and the Initiative Chronic Wounds e.V.,[10] he is committed to the sustainable treatment of chronic wounds and leg ailments to improve quality of life and enhance the physical fitness of patients. His findings and technologies are used in the prevention of vascular diseases, diabetes as well as in connection with longevity (extending lifespan).
