Ronald Thondickal, born in 1977 in Pala, Kottayam, Kerala, India, is the founder of RFT Films and Entertainment. Established in 2004, RFT has become a prominent distributor of South Indian cinema in the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond.
Education
editAfter completing his schooling in Kadaplamattom, he pursued a nursing degree in Mangalore, graduating in 1997. In 2001, he immigrated to the United Kingdom.
Career
editThondickal began organizing concerts in 2004. By 2012, he was involved in the distribution of motion pictures. Starting with Malayalam movies, Ronald expanded his reach to encompass all South Indian languages, establishing a strong presence in the UK and Europe. Over the years, he has distributed approximately 250 to 300 movies across various Indian languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, as well as Pakistani and Nepali films. His efforts have significantly impacted the availability and popularity of these films overseas. In the UK and Europe, his company, RFT, holds a dominant market share of about 80-85% for Malayalam movies.
Personal life
editThondickal is married to Femi Thondickal, and they have two daughters. The family resides in the United Kingdom.
Recognition
editIn 2017, Ronald's contributions to the film industry were recognized when he received the Best Overseas Award by Indiwood, a testament to his influence and success in international film distribution.
