Raymond Hicks is a highly decorated police officer who was employed by the Broward County Sheriff's Office where he worked as a deputy sheriff for many years.

In 1990, while on duty working for the Broward County Sheriffs office, Hicks states that he observed other Broward county officers engaging in corrupt activities. Hicks approached his senior officers to report this incident (and other incidences) of corruption in the agency. Following these reports, Hicks was arrested and falsely charged with serious offences, the most serious being the alleged trafficking of 350 kilos of cocaine.

Hicks' subsequently spent almost one and half years in prison waiting for his trial. On the day of his trial, a jury who had to deliberate for a mere 30 minutes, came back with a unanimous not guilty verdict, thereby acquitting Hicks of all charges. The jury overwhelmingly believed that Hicks was framed by other deputies for speaking up against the corruption he witnessed.

Hicks has stated that the injustice perpetrated against him, and his family resulted in the loss of all his possessions, his home, cars, finances and the career he loved, that he had developed over the years.

Hicks has also written a book I'm Still Standing where he accounts the harrowing story of all the havoc caused to him and his family following the charges. Hicks has made appearances on podcasts including Whistleblower Network News, and Hip Hop Uncensored.

Hicks has stated he yet feels as though he has not yet been vindicated, stating that "my arrest was splashed and paraded across news headlines, yet the same news organizations refused to cover my acquittal". Hicks says that "my goal is to bring this story to the screen, so audiences can see for themselves the trials and tribulations my family have endured over the past 21 years".
