INTRO Ramiken is a contemporary art gallery in New York City founded in 2009 by Mike Egan. The gallery is currently located at 389 Grand St in Manhattan.
DEVELOPMENT AND GALLERY SPACES Ramiken first opened at 221 East Broadway, where the gallery staged the debut solo exhibitions of Andra Ursuţa and Gavin Kenyon, among others. In 2011 the gallery moved to 389 Grand St, staging many exhibitions and events, including three monumental solo exhibitions by Andra Ursuţa; the first solo exhibitions of Lucas Blalock, Dora Budor, Liu Susiraja, Diamond Stingily, and Elaine Cameron-Weir; the SS 2012 collection of Telfar; a highly controversial series of three show by Bjarne Melgaard; and the comeback, groundbreaGking return of Kaari Upson to New York. From 2012-2014, Ramiken also staged annual exhibitions of large scale sculpture in a cave in Ciales, Puerto Rico. In 2015 the gallery opened another New York gallery space in a concrete bunker under a bank, where the gallery staged exhibitions by Wyatt Kahn, Lucas Blalock, Ragen Moss, Eli Ping, Ned Vena, and a career retrospective of cult filmmaker Jon Moritsugu. In 2017 the gallery relocated to Los Angeles, staging exhibitions by Diamond Stingily and Nolan Hendrickson. Left without a space by a sudden eviction, in 2018 the gallery moved back to New York, occupying a penthouse on the Upper East Side and staging several important exhibitions, including debut solo shows by Sven Sachsalber and Phillip Gabriel. In November 2019, Ramiken opened a new gallery at 154 Scott Ave, in Bushwick, with a solo exhibition of glass sculptures by Andra Ursuţa, and has since staged solo exhibitions by Liu Susiraja, Sven Sachsalber, Jean Katambayi Mukendi, Eli Ping, Kristi Cavataro, Phillip Gabriel, Takako Yamaguchi, Lukas Quietzsch, Sarah Księska, and Daichi Takagi. In March of 2021, Ramiken reopened 389 Grand St. In 2023, the gallery had solo exhibitions by David Ostrowski, John Hodgkinson, Omari Douglin, and Jean Katambayi Mukendi. The same year the gallery also held a group exhibition including artists Oshay Green, Sarah Księska, Carlo Mollino, Daichi Takagi, and Andra Ursuţa along with a two person show featuring Omari Douglin and Lucas Quietzsch. In 2024, Ramiken will stage an exhibition dedicated to artist Bjarne Melgaard.

PRIZES AND AWARDS Ramiken won the Gramercy International Prize in 2019. The Gramercy International Prize was created by the Armory Show with the intention to support “young and pioneering New York galleries” that have not previously shown at the fair. For the occasion, Ramiken staged a presentation of work by Darja Bajagić and Andra Ursuţa. Ramiken was selected by a jury that included collector Stefano Basilico, curator Clarissa Dalrymple, and dealers Nicole Klagsbrun, Andrea Rosen, and Lisa Spellman. - found in article 3 REFERENCE IT!
