Qumash (abbreviation “kumash” - from Kazakh “don’t drive”, “don’t go crazy”) is a Kazakh humorous information project from the “Let’s Go!” media project, which was created in 2019 from the backup Instagram page of blogger Birzhan Ashim. The project is a media outlet and is represented on the social networks Instagram and the Telegram messenger.[1][2].
According to Kazakh media critic Gazinur Gizdatov:
All the most important things are mixed here with the obviously unimportant, often trivial. Topical social issues easily coexist with funny or even surreal plots, writes Gizdatov[3].
The project was officially registered as an online publication with the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project was included in the top 10 popular Telegram channels in Kazakhstan according to Esquire magazine[4]
