Queen of the Murder Scene is the second studio album by Mexican rock band The Warning. It was released on 25 November 2018[1] by Nada Más Records.

Background

edit

Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album, that takes the listener on a journey inside the mind of a young woman, who drifts from unrequited love to despair, obsession, schizophrenia, violence, murder and finally her own inescapable death.[2] The protagonist (a.k.a. the Queen) has two personalities: the "good side (voiced by Paulina) and the "evil side" (voiced by Daniela), and these personalities fight for control throughout the album.[3][4]

The album art also shows that the woman's shadow is a monster of some kind, with fur and sharp claws. The lyrics on the album's insert booklet start out neatly written and clean and precise, but it starts to get messier as protagonist's mind gets messier; as it goes on, the words are all over the place with capitalization and fonts and there is blood on the pages.

In the first song, Dust to Dust, there is a Spanish speech section (the Preacher character), voiced by the band's manager, Rudy Joffroy. On the official album launch concert Joffroy was present on stage and performed his part live, but on later performances he was replaced by a backing track voice.
