- Comment: Statements like "The business is closing due to staffing shortages, inflation, rising food costs from the COVID-19 pandemic aftermath. Existing staff is also aging greatly." feel somewhat unencyclopedic to me. Still, the main thing is the cited statements of opinion; most of the claims are from random residents and none are from food critics, and some don't even seem to support the claim made (I note cite 1, 5 and 6 here, though I think those might be the wrong cites based on the quotes given in the References section for cites 7 and 8?). However, I didn't make the decline myself, and just did a surface-level scan of things – for more specific reasons, you should probably either ping CurryTime or ask them on their talk page.I will note that I agree this probably meets notability (though I haven't taken a deep dive into the citations, as mentioned above). Quebec Smoked Meat (French: "Les produits de Quebec Smoked Meat, Inc." and French: "Les Produits de Viande Fumée du Québec"; for short French: "Viande Fumée du Québec") was a historic Montreal smoked meat take-out delicatessen and meat shop located in Pointe-Saint-Charles, Montreal, Quebec, Canada; at 1889 Centre Street. It closed in June 2023, after being in operation for 73 years, opening for business in 1950. The business closed due to staffing shortages, inflation, rising food costs from the COVID-19 pandemic aftermath, and existing staff aging. The business was family run since its establishment and had service in English, French, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian. The business was operated by the Ukrainian-Canadian Nower family. The business was opened by Ben Nower in 1950 as a butcher's shop, adding a deli restaurant portion in the 1960s. It was passed to his sons Mark Nower and Richard Nower in the 1980s. Richard Nower was the final owner. Many had considered it the best smoked meat in Montreal, besting luminaries Main Deli Steak House and Schwartz's.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Its smoked meat was prepared by hand, without mechanical aids.[7] It had also been known for its kabanos sausages.[8] Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien had dined at the restaurant.[4]
