Priyadarshan Singh Lakhawat is an Indian educator in the field of Hospitality and Tourism industry. He served as the Principal at the Institute of Hotel Management Jaipur[1] (Dec 2020 - Feb 2023) as well as Head of Department at Institute of Hotel Management, Gurdaspur.[2] He holds the position of Director (Academics & Training) at the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology.[3][4] Lakhawat is also a two-time recipient for the Best Teacher in Hospitality Education from Ministry of Tourism(Government of India). Lakhawat is a published author with multiple books and research articles in the field of Hispitality and Tourism.[2]

Priyadarshan Singh Lakhawat was born in Rajasthan, India.

Priyadasrhan Singh Lakhawat has been engaged in the Hospitality & Tourism industry for more than 24 years.[5] He completed his graduation in Hotel Management from IHM Bhopal.[2] Thereafter, Priyadarshan Singh obtained his DHM (Diploma in Hospital Management) and a post-graduation degree in Master of Tourism Management (MTM).[1]

Lakhawat obtained a qualified Learning Facilitator from Lausanne Switzerland.[2] He is also designated as a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) from AHLA(American Hotel & Lodging Association), USA.[5]

He is a Master Trainer for the Certified Learning Facilitator program of NCHMCT.[2]

He started his career in Hotel Management by joining IHM Ahmedabad as a faculty member. Subsequently, in 2009, Priyadarshan Singh Lakhawat joined IHM Gurdaspur as a Senior Lecturer.[2]

Lakhawat serves as Deputy Director – Academics & Training, National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology(NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.[4] He was also a member of the syllabus committee for NCHMCT and well as the CBSE, contributing as a content developer for the CBSE Student Handbook for Class IX titled 'Front Office Operations'.[2]

In December 2020, Lakhawat was appointed as the Principal at the Indian of Hotel Management Jaipur.[1]

Institute of Hotel Management Gurdaspur-2010 edit

During his early stage in career as a lecturer at IHM Gurdaspur in 2010, Lakhawat commented over students getting employment in top culinary institutes and hotels in foreign countries, "The trend of foreign employers recruiting Indian students is a new one. The decision of the Panama Carnival Cruize coming to the city to recruit graduates from next year is ample proof of this."[6]

Leisure and Tourism Conference 2018 edit

The Leisure and Tourism Conference 2018 was organized in Colombo where Lakhwat as a keynote speaker talked on the issue of Hotel safety and security.[7]

Security Link India-2019 edit

Lakhawat was featured on the cover of March 2019 edition of Security Link India magazine speaking on dealing with the issue of increasing instances of fire in high-rises and hotels.[8][9]

Hotel Management Training Camp-2021 edit

In order to provide employment opportunities to the youth in the capital Jaipur, a training camp for hotel management was organized by Priyadarshan Lakhawat as Principal of IHM Jaipur under the program of the Union Ministry of Tourism. The 6-day free training program was organized in the city of Amer with the aim of providing training and employment to the people related to food industry.[10]

Rajasthan Day-2021 edit

On the occasion of Rajasthan Day-2021, Lakhawat was invited to a seminar organized by the Ministry of Tourism at Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur and stressed on the importance of local arts and culture along with tourist places in encouraging tourism and increasing the movement of tourists.[11][12]

Lakhwat was the featured speaker on 'The Traditional Cuisines of Rajasthan' in conversation with Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director, Rajasthan Tourism.[13]

Life Skills (Jeevan Kaushal) for Youth edit

Lakhawat organized took part in the week long online workshop 'Life Skills (Jeevan Kaushal) for Youth' at Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak. He covered 'Leadership & Management Skills' and spoke over renunciation, concept of service and moral values.[14][15]

International Conference on Enterprise and Entrepreneurialism in Tourism and Hospitality-2022 edit

Priyadarshan Singh was invited to speak at the International Conference on “Enterprise and Entrepreneurialism in Tourism and Hospitality” at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.[16][17][18][19][20]
