Prefixbox is a cloud-based, B2B SaaS company, providing product search solutions for E-commerce retailers. It is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary.

History edit

Prefixbox was founded in 2014 in Budapest, Hungary by István Simon.[1]

It was originally a company focused on creating an Autocomplete solution for retailers, but later expanded its offering.[2]

Prefixbox’s Autocomplete was released in 2015, followed by their Search Engine, Related Keywords, and Related Products in 2016.[3]

Prefixbox received its first investment in 2017 from Péter Balogh, a Hungarian angel investor. This was followed by a seed investment by Euroventures in 2019.[4] Euroventures invested again in 2021. [5][6]

Prefixbox claims to be present in more than 10 countries.

Though Prefixbox’s solutions provide a high degree of search result relevance, their premium pricing model has limited its adoption to enterprise retailers.

About the product edit

Prefixbox’s solution is made up of 3 suites focused on product search and discovery: Prefixbox Search, Prefixbox Recommend, and Prefixbox Insights.[7]

The products can be integrated with any Ecommerce platform via front-end, API or mobile app integration.

The Hybrid Search Engine leverages Artificial Intelligence, vector technology and large language models.[8]

Recognition edit

In 2018, Gartner recognized Prefixbox as a leading search provider[9]. Moving forward, the company is recommended by Gartner every year.[10][11]

In 2019, Prefixbox won "Employer of the year" by IT Business.[12]

In 2020, Finances Online awarded the company for "Great User Experience".

Prefixbox was nominated for the "Lovable Workplaces Award" by DreamJobs in 2021 and 2022, and finished in the Top 200 Hungary-based companies both times.
