Plankton: The Movie is an upcoming American adventure comedy film based on the animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg. The film is directed by Dave Needham and stars the series' regular voice cast. The story follows Plankton, whose world is changed completely when his plan for world domination is thwarted. It is the second in a series of character-driven SpongeBob spin-off films following Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (2024).

The film was written by Kaz, Chris Viscardi, and Mr. Lawrence, who also wrote the film's story and provided the voice of Plankton, reprising his role from the series and previous films. The film was confirmed to be in production in June 2024. Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper composed the score, and Bret McKenzie, Linda Perry, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Bob Mothersbaugh wrote original songs.

Plankton: The Movie will be released on Netflix in 2025.

In June, 2024, it was announced that a second SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off film, following Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, was in production. Titled Plankton: The Movie, the film would feature Plankton as its lead character.[2] The series' regular voice cast of Mr. Lawrence, the voice of Plankton, Jill Talley, Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown, and Rodger Bumpass were confirmed to reprise their roles.[2] David Needham was announced as the film's director, with Mr. Lawrence co-writing the film, alongside Kaz and Chris Viscardi.[2]

Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper was announced as the composer, with Karyn Rachtman and Otis Ratchman as music supervisors.[2] Additionally, the film will feature original songs written by Bret McKenzie, Linda Perry, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Bob Mothersbaugh.[2]

Plankton: The Movie is scheduled to release on Netflix in 2025.[1]
