Phillip J. Long is an American biblical scholar and pastor. He is Professor of Biblical Studies at Grace Christian University in Wyoming, Michigan.[1] Long serves as an active bibloblogger, where he facilities the monthly Biblical Studies Carnival hosted by various biblical studies bloggers.[2] He holds a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from Andrews University (2012), an M.A. in Old Testament from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University (1998), an M.A. in Biblical Exposition from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University (1995), and a Th.B. in Pastoral Studies from Grace Bible College (1987).[3]

Academic Work edit

Long currently serves as Professor of Bible and Ministry at Grace Christian University, and as editor of The Journal of Grace Theology.[4] He previously held the position of Vice-Chair of the Midwest Evangelical Theological Society from 2012-2013 and position of Chair of the Midwest Evangelical Theological Society from 2013-2014.[5] Long won the Charles Baker Biblical Studies Award in 1987 and the Talbot Seminary Biblical Exposition Award in 1995.[6]

Books edit

Long is the author of The Book of Enoch for Beginners: An Introductory Guide to Enhance Your Understanding of the Biblical World published by Rockridge Press in 2022.[7] Additionally, he is author of Galatians: Freedom through God’s Grace (Wipf & Stock, 2019)[8] and Jesus the Bridegroom (Pickwick, 2012).[9] Long has also contributed numerous articles and book reviews to theological journals.[10]

Long actively writes articles and reviews at Reading Acts, a biblioblog that often appears on biblioblog top 50 lists and sites.[11]

Pastoral Work edit

Long previously served as interim pastor at Grace Bible Church (Newaygo, MI) in 1990 and as interim pastor at Grace Bible Church (Riverside, CA) in 1992 and again from 1997-1998. He then served as Associate Pastor of Teaching at Rush Creek Bible Church (Byron Center, MI) from 2006-2021.[12]

Personal Life edit

Phillip has been married since 1984, and has two daughters.[13]
