Biography edit

Peter Nielsen Klitz, 1893.

Klitz was born in Assens, Denmark. He was the son of Jørgen Thomsen Klitz and Mette née Pedersen. His father was a prominent master blacksmith.[2] In the 1890's Klitz spent a short time in Zurich, Switzerland[3] and then went to Germany to be educated at The Rosendaler Art School in Munich. In 1897 Peter married Sophie Kirstine Marcussen, daughter of Andreas Marcussen and Lene Marie Marcussen, née Jessen.[4] They would go on to have one daughter together named Sophie Kirstine Klitz. He then began having art exhibitions as early as 1900.[5] From 1916 until his death 1955 Peter and his wife lived on Sønder Boulevard in Copenhagen.[6][7]

Most of his paintings are in private collections around the world.
