Peter Muennig[1] is a professor of Health Policy Management at Columbia University. Peter Muennig is an American health policy researcher and professor at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. He is known for his translational work on applying cost-effectiveness analysis to the social determinants of health and for experimental trials of education and welfare policy.[2][3][4][5][6]

His work has changed laws at the global, national, and local level. For example, his early work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Health Canada[7][8] led to changes in the way that immigrants were provided preventive health interventions on entrance to these nations.[9][10] His work on building a park over the Cross Bronx Expressway[11] has led to initial $2 million in funding to begin the $1 billion dollar project [12][13][14][15][16]. His work on installing Traffic enforcement cameras.[17] was used as evidence of their efficacy when state legislators planned to ban their use, leading to a possible decline in fatalities.[18] His work with MDRC on the impact of the Earned Income Tax Credit [19][20] may have played a role in changes to the program during pandemic stimulus legislation [21] He has received over $30 million in grant funding for these and other projects.[22][23][24][25][26] He is currently working with MDRC and Housing and Urban Development to study a plan to replace the existing welfare program for housing recipients with a new model that helps participants set smart goals for behavioral change.[27].
