Peter Herweck (born 1966) is a German business executive. Herweck is CEO of the French energy management and automation company Schneider Electric, having succeeded Jean-Pascal Tricoire in that role in May 2023.[1]

Early life and education edit

Herweck was born in Saarbrücken, Germany, near the French border. [2]

Herweck holds an MBA from Wake Forest University School of Business, USA, and electrical engineering degrees from Metz University , France, and Saarland University, Germany.[3]

He is also a Harvard Business School Advanced Management alumnus.[3]

Career edit

Herweck started his career as an apprentice electrician at age fifteen. He attended night school for two years while practicing as an electrician attending university to study electrical engineering. [2]

After completing his Masters, he moved to Japan with Mitsubishi, becoming a software development engineer.[3]

Herweck joined the German engineering and technology conglomerate Siemens in 1993 and held various executive positions at the company, in Germany, China and the United States, before becoming its Chief Strategy Officer in 2011.[2]

In 2016, he joined Schneider Electric, as a member of the Executive Committee and head of its Industrial Automation business.[4] In 2018, he oversaw the merger of Schneider Electric’s Industrial Software business with AVEVA. He became vice-chairman of AVEVA after that merger,[2], and in May 2021, he was appointed CEO of AVEVA.[5]

In May 2023, he returned to Schneider Electric to become CEO. [Source: FT] In this transition he became President of the Board of AVEVA.[6]
