- Comment: Very clear WP:COI with this article, it only links to two sources one of which is the Editor's own company. Editor: this is WP:SPAM and against Wikipedia Terms of Use. Do not do this.If you want to build an article on PLMS then you must write it using completely independent, reliable, sources. Not linked to you. Qcne (talk) 08:55, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
A performance learning management system (PLMS) is a software application that links learning to business performance.[1] It’s similar to a learning management system (LMS) in that it hosts the documentation, tracking, reporting, automation, and delivery of educational courses, but it differs from a traditional LMS in that it synchronizes learning to the achievement of organizational outcomes and goals.[2]
What is a PLMS?
editA performance learning management system (PLMS) gives organizations the ability to address performance management and learning in one platform. With a PLMS it's possible to continually assess and improve learners based on their specific company and role-based capabilities.
Uses
editA performance learning management system is generally used by organizations in six core ways.[3]
Before learning
editA PLMS can be used to define, assess, and map the organizational and role-based capabilities of learners. This information is used in creating learning and development (L&D) efforts that target key capabilities and improve business performance.
Manage learning
editPerformance learning management systems facilitate and manage all learning opportunities such as e-learning, coaching, and in-person training courses. They turn these interactions into learning assets that can be made shareable, which helps in creating knowledge exchange.
Assess learning
editA PLMS identifies role-based capabilities and can be used to measure them, ensuring an alignment between business performance and learning. This is different from a traditional LMS, which records metrics such as course completions or learner engagement over improvements in performance.
Embedded performance management
editPerformance learning management systems show the real-world applications of learning. It is in this way that a PLMS links learning to performance. Course or content completions are only one aspect of performance; what a PLMS provides is a historical record or progression of a learner's improvement as a result of training.
Multi-stakeholder learning
editPerformance learning management systems offer learning portals to both external and internal employees and stakeholders. In this case, external stakeholders include customers, partners, or members, while internal employees are those employed by the company. A PLMS has the capacity for one account with many learners, but maintains specific tailored content and experiences for separate groups.
Workflow automation
editPerformance learning management systems automate learning and performance data. This includes automating learning recommendations, completions, capability assignments, and regular administration tasks like onboarding and assessments. It should create a more efficient process to enable the link between learning and performance.
Comparative technology
editA performance learning management system is different from standalone learning management systems or performance management systems. A PLMS is focused on job scorecards, managing performance against job scorecards, and improving employees’ capabilities.[4]
Learning management system
editLearning management systems are software applications or web-based platforms designed to manage the hosting, delivery, tracking, and assessment of educational courses. It’s a centralized location where course facilitators and instructors are able to create and organize course content, give feedback to learners, and track learner progress.
Performance management system
editA performance management system is a structured process designed to monitor, assess, and improve the performance of individuals and teams within an organization. They involve setting performance goals and expectations, giving feedback, and providing corrective actions where it’s necessary to do so.
