Peremotka (Russian: Перемотка; English: Rewind) is a post-punk band from Yekaterinburg, Russia.[1] Formed in 2015, its lineup consists of Gennady "Gena" Volgarev (bass guitar), Oleg Lopaev (vocals, guitar) and Nikita Mukhlynin (drums).[2]

The band releases its music through UP!UP!UP! Music, a Russian music label that works with other artists such as Sova (Сова) and My (Мы).[3]
History
editPeremotka was formed in Yekaterinburg, Russia in 2015. The bandmates met at school and began their musical career by covering popular songs at apartment concerts.[4] The band's name was chosen as a nod to the 2008 Michel Gondry film Be Kind Rewind.[5]
The band's first album, Sbornik pesen (Сборник песен, "Collection of Songs") was released on 12 March 2015, followed by its second album Noch epokhi (Ночь эпохи, "Night of the Era") on 6 October 2017, which contained the band's first big hit, Vstrechnaya (Встречная, "The Girl I'll Meet"). The video for this song, which draws on clips from the 1995 Richard Linklater film Before Sunrise, has garnered over one and a half million views on the band's YouTube channel.[6]
In May 2018, the band released its first single, Zdravstvuy (Здравствуй, "Hello") as part of its third album, Dozhd proshyol v parke otdykha (Дождь прошёл в парке отдыха, "It Rained in Holiday Park"). The album was released in full on 30 November 2018. Zdravstvuy became very popular outside of the Russian-speaking Internet and provided the band with the beginnings of an international fan base.
In late 2019 and early 2020, Peremotka released two more singles from its upcoming fourth album: Staroye kino (Старое кино, "Old Movie") in November 2019 and Tvoego balkona svet (Твоего балкона свет, "Your Balcony Light") in April 2020. Staroye kino had a strong positive reception and foreshadowed the album's success.
The full album, Nachalo prekrasnoy druzhby (Начало прекрасной дружбы, "The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship"), was released on 30 October 2020 and featured the band's most popular song to date, Kak tebya pokorit (Как тебя покорить, "How to Conquer You"). Kak tebya pokorit became especially popular on TikTok.
Over the next two years, the band teased its fifth album with three new singles: Solntse (Солнце, "Sun") in March 2021, Samyye grustnyye pesni (Самые грустные песни, "The Saddest Songs") in October 2021 and Proch (Прочь, "Away") in September 2022. The full album, Ulitsa mira (Улица мира, "Street of the World") was released just a few weeks after Proch on 23 September 2022.
In 2023, Peremotka released four singles, which included several collaborations with other artists. In March, Chyornymi krylyami (Чёрными крыльями, "Black Wings") was released as part of the fourth album of fellow Yekaterinburg band Sova. In April, Oskolki (Осколки, "Fragments") was released in collaboration with vnimanie brusnika!. In September, Muzyka vecher (Музыка вечер, "Music Evening") was released, followed by a Vstrechnaya nightcore remix in October.
The band released its first extended play (EP), Khrustalik solntsa (Хрусталик солнца, "Crystal Sun") on 28 June 2024, containing three songs.
