Patsy Roberts or Patsy Roberts Williamson was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on January 7, 1791. One of her manuscript songs is signed Patsy Williamson, coloured Sister. [1] According to Shaker records, Patsy joined the Shaker community of Pleasant Hill Kentucky in 1809. She was owned by the Roberts family who brought her into the community and when the family left the community, Patsy was purchased by Pleasant Hill where she remained until her death on August 28, 1860.[2] She wrote music reflecting her devotion to Mother Ann such as Pretty Mother's Home.[3]
