The Dublin Stabbing and Riots 2023 edit
At Approximately 1:30pm on the 23rd November 2023, a man in his 50's stabbed four people, one adult female and three young children aged 4, 5 and 6, at Parnell Square in Dublin City Centre. The suspect was taken down and subdued by multiple passer-by, one of which was a Brazilian Deliveroo driver. The Perpetrator was taken to the Mater Hospital as a result of his injuries sustained by the public intervention .[1]
The children were taken to Crumlin and Temple Street hospitals, where two of them are in stable condition but one in critical condition. The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital

Minutes after the stabbings, approx. 100 people gathered at the end of O'Connell street next to Parnell Square. After an hour,people started throwing insults at Garda members, during which civil unrest began to spur up and Garda cars were damaged and set on fire as well as the Luas (Tram). Some of the rioters began looting shops on O'Connell and the surrounding streets.[2]
Aftermath edit
After approximately 3 hours of riots, it began to die down. As a result of the riots, 11 Garda cars were damaged, 3 Dublin Buses, the Luas. 34 people were arrested not including the perpetrator involved in the stabbings.[3]
Reactions edit
The Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Leo Varadkar, said "Our thoughts and our prayers go out to them and their families" shortly after the incident[4]
Garda Superintendent Liam Geraghty held a media briefing at Mountjoy Garda Station appealing for people to hand in recordings of the stabbing and for eyewitnesses to give their statements.[5]
