Pļavupe is a stream in Latvia that flows entirely within the Salaspils Novads, It is a tributary of the bypass channel of the right bank of the Riga HES dam. It is 3km long and has a basin size of 12.3km[1].

Pļavupe rises in Salaspils in the Silava district. . The stream flows into a pipe near Pļavu Ielā .

It reserfuces for a small period and recieves the waters coming from a nearby stream, shortly there after it continues it's flow underground. It resurfaces near the Riga Daugavpils railway line . After having crossed the railway pļavupe forms a small pond.  After having recieved the ground water from the pond and nearby ditch it changes direction and flows eastward and receives the contribution of the Kūlainis stream.[2]

After receiving the waters of the kūlainis stream it flows south and forms a small valley . It then receives the waters of the northern branch of a smal stream coming from Keizarsils.

Shortly there after it recieves the waters of it's main tributery, the southern branch of the stream .

It then recieves the contribution of a stream coming from the mazais gulbju ezers .

It then recieves the contributions of a small urban ditch. Shortly there after It flows into the bypass channel of the right bank of the Riga HES Dam.

Historical Significance edit

During the Battle of Kircholm 1605 the pļavupe River was the border between the Swedish and Polish-Lithuanian army's. The Pļavupe River played a significant role during the battle[3]. The pļavupe river has also played a maggior role within salaspils before the battle of kircholm, it has flooded [4]during numuros occasions and coused severe agricultural damage.
