Oren Pizmony-Levy is an Associate Professor of International and Comparative Education.[1] at Teachers College, Columbia University. Pizmony-Levy is the Founding Director [2] of the Center for Sustainable Futures where he leads a research-practice partnership with New York City public schools. Pizmony-Levy also co-directs The Public Matters [3], which brings together faculty from across the College to collaborate on public opinion projects related to their specific areas of interest.
Pizmony-Levy is well cited [4] for his work in the field of Comparative and International education.

Pizmony-Levy grew up in Eilat, Israel [5] and attended Tel-Aviv University for BA (Political Science and Educational Policy and Organization) and MA degrees (Sociology of Education). He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology and the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Indiana University in 2013 .

Pizmony-Levy is known for his research on Sustainability Education [6], Social Movements, and Public Opinion [7]. Throughout his career, he has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored book chapters, and contributed to edited volumes on education policy and comparative education [8]
Research and Contributions edit
Pizmony-Levy's research covers a wide range of topics within the field of education policy and international comparative education. His scholarship centers on the intersection of education and social movements. Specifically, his work examines the emergence of movements [9] that challenge schools and education systems worldwide, the role of both transnational and domestic actors in the development of these movements, and the intended and unintended consequences of movements. Much of his work focuses on three educational movements: International assessment of student achievement, environmental and sustainability education, and sexual orientation and gender identity education. My recent work examines the global diffusion Teach For America (Teach For All), and the Opt Out movement in the United States.
Personal Life edit
Outside of his academic pursuits, Pizmony-Levy is known for his commitment to social justice and community engagement. He is actively involved in advocacy efforts aimed at advancing sustainability education [10]. He is also known for his mentorship of students and young scholars, nurturing the next generation of researchers and educators committed to making a positive difference in the field of education.
