Once on This Island is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Wanuri Kahiu from a screenplay by Jocelyn Bioh. It is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, which, in turn, was based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy. It will be released exclusively on Disney+.

On July 30, 2020, it was announced that Walt Disney Pictures and producer Marc Platt bought the film rights to adapt Once on This Island into a feature film for the Disney+ streaming service. Playwright Jocelyn Bioh will pen the script and Wanuri Kahiu will direct.[1]
