The Old Post Office Museum in Winnsboro, Louisiana, in Franklin Parish, Louisiana, is a former United States post office building which has been repurposed to a museum of local history.

It was built in 1936 in the New Deal era,[1] and in fact as part of a New Deal program.[citation needed]

It served as a post office from 1936 to 1998, then was purchased by the city of Winnsboro and was vacant for more than a decade.[2] It was renovated using $450,000 of grant funding and Winnsboro city capital outlay funding. The museum opened in 2010.[2]

It includes a New Deal program mural, Logging in the Louisiana Swamps, which was painted in 1939 by Datus Ensign Myers.

The building is included in the area of the Winnsboro Commercial Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, but was deemed not to contribute to the historic character of the district. In the National Register nomination, it was described as brick, showing a strong Georgian Revival influence, and having a hipped roof, brick quoins, a stone door surround, and an entablature.[1]

The building holds the offices of the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce, the Winnsboro Main Street, the Franklin Economic Development Foundation and the Franklin Parish Tourism Commission. Also, upstairs, it includes a conference room and two other "rooms where art classes can be held."[2]
