Ny Anjara Rafalimanana.[1], professionally known as Nya Rafali, is a Malagasy actress, writer, and director, athlete, entrepreneur, and advocate for women's football development, also known for her contributions to the film industry. Born in Antananarivo, Madagascar, in 1995 Nya's she established Yfomac Initiatives[2], the first female football school in Madagascar. Currently, she is an active football player for Williamsburg International FC in Brooklyn, New York.
Establishment of Yfomac Initiatives
editIn 2019, through collaboration with the French Embassy in Madagascar and La Maison du Sport, Nya founded the first exclusively female football school in Madagascar, Yfomac Initiatives[3].
The inaugural edition of the WFF[4] competition for girls under 13, organized by Yfomac Initiatives, took place in 2020, a premiere for female football in Madagascar.
Contributions to the film industry
editRegarding acting and directing, Nya Rafali appeared in "All the Whys" (2024) and "We're in Your Head" (2023). She gained recognition for her work, including her short film "Why Are We Awake" (2024), which won the prestigious Tresse D'Or[5] award at the Viavy Film Festival l[6]
Nya Rafali was also selected for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders[7] in 2022.
