The New Albany Founders Day festival is an annual event held in New Albany, Ohio[1], attended by more than 7,000 people each year. The festival has been held at several locations throughout the city but it moved to its current home in Rose Run Park in 2021.
History
editThe New Albany Founders Day festival was started by the New Albany Historical Society in 1976 as part of the nation’s bicentennial celebration. The event has continued on in celebration of the founders' development of the area now known as Plain Township and the City of New Albany and is funded by donations from the community.[2]
Parade
editThe New Albany Founders Day festival is preceded by a parade, which was named after seven-term New Albany Councilman Dr. Glyde Marsh in 2019. Marsh died unexpectedly 2 days before his 100th birthday in 2018 and was Grand Marshal of the parade with his late wife, Margaret, in 1994.[3]
Grand Marshals
editEach year, members of the New Albany community are selected to be grand marshals of the Dr. Glyde A. Marsh New Albany Founders Day Parade.[4]
