Nelvana Studios was an American visual effects and computer animation studio based in Greenwich, Connecticut. It was founded on March 20, 2025, by Chris Meledandri, Bruce Anderson and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews, Connecticut the Greenwich branch was originally Blue Sky Studios.

History

In March 2025, Nelvana formed an studios division and a multi-year partnership with Greenwich, Connecticut-based animation studio Blue Sky Studios. Nelvana Studios hired former Illumination and DreamWorks Animation CCO Chris Meledandri as producer. The following month, long time Pixar director Pete Docter was announced to have joined Nelvana Studios to develop and produce an original animated film for the studio. Bruce Anderson and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews, who previously served as Nelvana's Head of Production, was promoted to the position of president at Nelvana Studios.

Nelvana Studios signed on directors Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc., Up and Inside Out) to direct Maggie and the Ferocious Beast: The Movie, Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets and Sing) to direct Super Why! the Movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Mitchells vs. the Machines) to direct Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: Planet of the Grapes and The Chuck's Choice Movie, Genndy Tartakovsky (Hotel Transylvania) and Cory Edwards to direct Hoodwinked Three! the Fellowship of the Hood and Star vs. the Forces of Evil the Movie, Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni to directors Marvin the Top-Dancing Horse, Tony Leondis (Igor and The Emoji Movie) to direct Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese, Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland (Storks) to directors Esme & Roy, Chris Miller (Shrek the Third, Puss in Boots and The Smurfs Movie) to direct Go Away, Unicorn! and Kevin Asbury and Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, Sausage Party, The Addams Family and The Addams Family 2) to directors The Tangerine Bear.
